This Cardamom Whipped Cream is a warm, spiced whipped topping that you won’t be able to get enough of! It’s incredibly quick and easy to make homemade whipped cream, and the addition of ground cardamom in this one makes the taste luxurious, lightly floral, and extra special.
🌟Why You’ll Love This Recipe
Easy, fresh whipped cream – It just takes three ingredients and a few minutes to make fresh, creamy, spiced whipped cream.
Aromatic ground cardamom – Cardamom brings a cozy, floral warmth without being too intense.
Versatile – Spoon this over the top of cakes, pies, hot beverages, and anything that needs a little creamy element to complete it. It’s especially delicious with my spiced pumpkin pie filling.
🧾Ingredients in This Recipe
Heavy cream – When we whip heavy cream, we incorporate air into the mix which builds that thicker, fluffier, whipped cream. This won’t work with single cream.
Ground cardamom – Use ground cardamom or a spice grinder or mortar and pestle to grind the seeds in cardamom pods.
Powdered sugar – Also known as confectioner’s sugar, powdered sugar in whipped cream adds sweetness and helps stabilize it, allowing it to hold its shape longer. Sift your powdered sugar for an extra smooth texture.

👩🍳How to Make This Recipe
Add the whipped cream, powdered sugar, and ground cardamom to a large mixing bowl. If it’s an especially hot day, it helps to put the bowl in the freezer before starting.
Using a handheld or stand mixer fitted with a whisk attachment, whip the mixture on medium-high speed until fluffy soft, or stiff peaks form, depending on your preference. (A hand mixer works best for smaller amounts, and both work well for large amounts. See notes below.)
Use your fresh whipped cream immediately or cover it and refrigerate it for up to 4 hours.
Need more whipped cream?
This recipe can be doubled or even tripled. Calculate how much you need as follows: To yield 1 cup of whipped cream, use 1/2 cup of heavy cream. To yield 2 cups of whipped cream, use 1 cup of heavy cream. To yield 3 cups of whipped cream, use 1.5 cups of heavy cream.
🏆 How to Enjoy Your Whipped Cream
Spoon this on top of your favorite pie, like a classic pumpkin pie.
Add some instead of ice cream to your favorite cakes. I love it with my rich, zingy ginger cake.
Use it as a topping for hot chocolate or other hot beverages. It would be amazing on top of my London Fog hot chocolate.

Add the cream, cardamom, and sugar to a cold or room temperature bowl.
1/2 cup heavy cream, 1/2 teaspoon ground cardamom, 1 tablespoon powdered sugar
Using a handheld or stand mixer fitted with a whisk attachment, whip on medium-high speed until fluffy soft to stiff peaks** form, depending on your preference. It will take 3-4 minutes.
Use immediately or cover and refrigerate for up to 4 hours.
Notes
* If using 1.5 cups of cream or more, I prefer using a stand mixer. If using less, I prefer a hand mixer.** I find medium peaks, between soft and stiff, are the best for topping desserts. If the cream is over-whipped, fold in a bit more cream to smooth it out. This only might help save your whipped cream. If you plan to make this a day in advance, your whipped cream may need some re-whipping.This recipe can be doubled or even tripled. To yield 1 cup of whipped cream, use 1/2 cup of heavy cream.
To yield 2 cups of whipped cream, use 1 cup of heavy cream.
