Persian Sharbat is a traditional Middle Eastern chilled drink made with sweet flavored syrup and water. It’s sometimes called a sweet cordial. I’m using a lemon quince syrup (sharbat beh limoo), but you can use any flavor that you like.

Another type of sharbat, sekanjabin, is a similar Persian drink made with sweet flavored syrup infused with vinegar and water.

🌟 Why You’ll Love Sharbat

  • Cooling and refreshing: This cold sharbat gives a dose of hydration with an uplifting sweet taste. Another favorite is golab, a persian rose drink.
  • Variety of flavors and customization: Sharbats come in a wide range of flavors, from sweet to fruity to floral. This version uses lemon quince syrup, but you could use so many others like ginger, mint, or sour cherry.
  • One ingredient: It doesn’t get easier than this! If you have your favorite flavored syrup, you only need water and ice to make this drink.
  • Create more drinks with this sharbat: While sharbat is a great standalone beverage, it can be mixed with sparkling water, and fizzy drinks, or even used as a base for cocktails and mocktails.

🧾 Ingredients in This Recipe

A bottle of quince lemon syrup between a pitcher of water and a lemon half.
  • Flavored simple syrup – I’m using lemon quince, but you could use any favorite syrup, such as fruit, a floral, or an herb syrup. This mint syrup is an excellent choice.
  • Water – I like to use filtered water, but drinking water from the tap or elsewhere is fine too.
  • Ice – Any ice works for this. I find crushed ice particularly refreshing.
