Matcha Green Tea Ice Cream

INGREDIENTS YOU NEED

- 5 large egg yolks - 1/2 cup sugar - 1.5 cups whole milk - 1 vanilla bean (or 1 tsp vanilla extract) - 2 tbsp culinary grade matcha powder - 1.5 cups heavy cream

milk and vanilla together.

WARM

egg yolks and sugar.

WHISK

egg/sugar mixture with the milk/vanilla mixture.

TEMPER

until thickened, stirring constantly.

COOK

the temperature has reached  get 170F, then remove from heat.

CHECK

Sift and whisk matcha into the mixture. Add the cream. Chill overnight.

SIFT

chilled ice cream to the ice cream maker. Churn (stir setting) until it is the thickness of soft serve ice cream.

ADD

 to a container you can freeze easily. 

TRANSFER

with parchment paper and freeze for at least 4 hours.
