Persian Basmati Rice with Saffron

INGREDIENTS YOU NEED

basmati rice oil salt water saffron

rice thoroughly in cold water.

WASH

water to cook rice to al dente texture.

BOIL

out the rice once it has reached al dente texture.

STRAIN

oil to the pot then add in the rice.

ADD

six deep holes in the rice with a kitchen utensil.

PRESS

you can opt to wrap the lid in a towel to absorb excess moisture.

WRAP

Steep the ground saffron by topping it with 2 ice cubes while the rice cooks.

STEEP

once the lid is foggy, pour a little oil on the rice. Cook 20-30 min from when the oil is poured on top.

POUR

the lid back on the rice and turn the heat to the lowest possible setting.

PLACE

If using saffron, add it to about a cup of the cooked rice and mix well with a fork. Pour this yellow rice over the rest of the rice.
